Aquatech, a global leader in water purification technology for industrial and infrastructure markets, has been awarded a new Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) project for Adani Wilmar Ltd. It has over 450 manufacturing plants and an extensive distribution network covering China, India, Indonesia and some 50 other countries.

Aquatech will supply two 15.3 GPM zero liquid discharge systems, each consisting of a crystallizer and Double-Effect TVC.

The project is expected to be completed in 2018.

Why This Is Necessary

Zero liquid discharge can be defined broadly as a process for maximum recovery of water from a waste water source that would otherwise be discharged. This water is beneficially reused and the salts, and other solids contained in the waste water are produced and generally disposed of in a landfill. The drivers for zero liquid discharge include a growing concern by the public about the impact of such discharges on the environment, and in many areas of the world, water is a scarce resource. One of the driving forces for Adani Wilmar Ltd. is their water scarce location of Gujarat, India. Through ZLD, they will be able to reuse their water, reduce their environmental footprint and improve sustainability within the facility.
